The Perfect Chai Cup: A Comforting Recipe to Brew at Home

There’s something timeless about a well-made cup of chai. Rich, spiced, and deeply comforting, chai is more than just tea, it’s a ritual, a pause, and a moment of warmth in every sip. Today, we’re sharing our perfect chai cup recipe, made with whole spices and simple ingredients you can enjoy any day of the week.

Ingredients

1 cup water

1 cup milk (or milk of choice)

1 black tea bag or 1 teaspoon loose black tea

2–3 whole cloves

1 small piece of fresh ginger (crushed or sliced)

1 small cinnamon stick

A pinch of freshly grated nutmeg

Creamer (to taste)

Sweetener of choice (optional)

Method

In a saucepan, add water, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg.

Bring to a gentle boil and let the spices simmer for 5–7 minutes to release their flavour.

Add the black tea and reduce heat. Simmer for another 2–3 minutes.

Pour in the milk and allow the chai to heat gently without boiling.

Add creamer and sweetener if desired, then stir well.

Strain into your favourite cup and enjoy.

Serving Suggestion

Serve your chai hot in a ceramic mug, paired with light pastries, biscuits, or roasted nuts for a cozy tea moment. For an extra indulgent touch, sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg on top before serving.

Chai is best enjoyed slowly—shared with loved ones or sipped quietly as part of your self-care routine.
